These ballasting blocks offer an alternative to weighing down tents when the location disallows staking. Normally we use 3-foot long steel stakes driven into the ground, but when that's not possible, we use either blocks or water barrels. The number of which is up to our discretion based on the weight requirement to safely anchor the tent against maximum anticipated wind gusts. This option is required when tent staking is not available.
